Made in Switzerland, the Ophrys Sun Care
range has been formulated using highly effective modern chemical sunblocks and
a physical sunblock, Titanium dioxide. In addition, Ophrys contains a unique
film forming agent (polymethylmethacrylate) which allows the sunblock to be
easily applied in a thin and homogenous layer over the skin.
The percentage of each sun block ingredient
used has been selected to optimize the protection against both UVB and UVA
wavelength radiation, which occurs in the regions of 290-320 and 320-400
respectively, thereby the Ophrys sun care line can accurately claim to grant
“broad based protection”.
The active sunblocks used are stable to
radiation and do not permeate the skin surface, additionally all are approved
for inclusion in sun care products according to the European Directive EU
Titanium dioxide included in the formulation
is a physical sunblock and is not the micronized grade, deliberately so. Ophrys
does not use the micronized grade of Titanium dioxide in order to avoid the
formation of free radicals (Smijs and Pavel Nanotechnol Sci Appl. 2011, 4:
95-112). This avoidance of free radicals ensures that the topical sunblock
formulation used is both more stable and provides anti-ageing properties.
The result is a highly effective sun care
that provides high SPF protection against the damaging rays of the sun (UVA and
UVB), helps to reduce the signs of premature ageing and works to promote soft, healthy
and beautifully hydrated skin.
